Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Patient Safety, including pre-screening for contra-indications, aseptic injection technique, etc.
2. Produce high quality diagnostic images.
3. Effective Communication with customers and/or radiologists.
4. Training new technologist and/or patient coordinators.
5. Trouble-shooting the scanner, coach and peripheral equipment (including: monitors, PACS, coils, etc.)

Under the supervision of the Radiology Supervisor, performs a variety of MRI procedures & departmental support functions. Essential Functions: - Performs MRI examinations of the brain, body, spine & extremities on patients of all ages effectively adjusting scanning parameters for different patient body habitus. Se-lects & modifies technical factors to enhance images; uses flare & SAT imaging tech-niques. Determines appropriate equipment for scanning up to but not limited to body coils. - Identifies gross pathology in the human body & adjusts T1 & T2 scanning parameters to provide pertinent information for interpretation. Adjusts parameters of equipment to minimize risk factors to self & patient. - Effectively performs Diffusion studies, MR Angiograms, reformats & MIP imaging. Per-forms specialized exams i.e. MRA runoffs & post arthrogram work ups. - Effectively uses magnetic resonance & adjusts parameters to minimize exposure to patient & self. Follows established protocols & effectively uses scanning techniques to include, window & contrast levels, scanning time sequences, scanning delays, scan-ning thickness, FOV, scout images, reformatting, image reconstruct & 3-D image re-construct. Photographs, archives & retrieves images. - Is certified to start & remove IV lines for contrast studies per established departmental policy & procedure. Identifies & responds to IV contrast reactions up to & including calling emergency personnel. Proficient in the use of an IV Contrast Power Injector. - Identifies each patient, reviews each patient's requisition & previous studies for consis-tency (examination ordered/clinical diagnosis), & records pertinent data on MRI requi-sition at all times. Responsible for performing comprehensive screening of patients & other individuals before allowing them to enter the MR system room. - Effectively explains, knows, & informs anyone entering the MR system room the dan-ger associated w/ implants & devices, in addition to pacemakers, implantable cardio-verter defibrillators (ICDs), & loose objects. - Reviews each examination for technical accuracy, presents completed examination to radiologist, & communicates pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the procedure. - Identifies anatomical orientation on all required images & ensures proper film identifi-cation on all images. - Maintains daily patient MRI 'log' documenting correctly & accurately patient informa-tion to ensure the quality of patient care. - patient's full name - patient's member number - patient's physician - type & amount of contrast used - examination performed - Demonstrates ability to organize patient care & set priorities by providing critical care first & by implementing the physician's orders. - Performs proper computer skills & shows working knowledge of patient orders, status changes, patient charges & profiles. - Performs other duties as directed. Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: - 1 year experience as a MRI technologist or ARRT advanced certification registry eligible w/ 2 years recent experience as a radiologic technologist w/ ARRT required. - High school diploma or GED required. - Graduate of an accredited radiology technology program or MRI Accredited Certificate Program required. - ARRT advanced certification registry eligible required. - Current in ARRT or ARMRIT CEU requirements required. - Current CPR certification required. - 'Venipuncture competency check off' required w/in 3 months of hire. - Registered w/ the ARRT & MRI certified w/in 12 months of employment or have current ARMRIT Certification required.
