ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSEach Employee consistently demonstrates the following essential functions: Verifies patient's identity (by two means) and pregnancy/ breast feeding status prior to performing radiopharmaceutical administration. Performs venipuncture using aseptic technique. Documents verification and injection site on patient's Nuclear Medicine worksheet. Prepares patients for procedures, obtains pertinent medical history and provides explanation of procedure to patients/ family members. Coordinates procedures to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency of staff, cameras and radiopharmaceuticals. Assists with routine department maintenance tasks (i.e.: cleaning, restocking supplies, archiving patient's image data, notifying supervisor of low inventory). Ensures correct charges for all procedures using barcode tracking/computer, knowledgeable of RMS function sets and data entry. Properly transmits images to PACS with the correct accession number assigned. Utilizes modality worklist for imaging procedures. Answer telephone promptly and uses proper telephone etiquette. Demonstrates appropriate interactions and communication with all customers (ie. patients, families, physicians and co-workers). Able to troubleshoot equipment problems and notify appropriate personnel regarding equipment failure. Provides resource to Nuclear Medicine students by demonstration and explanation of procedures; functions as a preceptor in orientation of new personnel.
