General DescriptionChristiana Care is currently recruiting for an RN to work in our Radiation Oncology department at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center. The person selected for this position will have a primary focus on prostrate brachytherapy patients. Perform nursing assessment of patients before, during and after radiation therapy. Provide care as appropriate and coordinate care with radiation oncology physicians. Provide triage and care management for a case load of between 25-40 patients per day. Perform IV contrast infusion and patient monitoring for CT simulation planning. Perform and monitor conscious sedation of patients. Participate with the research nurse in the interdepartmental management of patients requiring combined (chemotherapy/hormonal/biological/radiation) therapy. Provide IV infusion of cancer research drugs under protocol requirements at departmental level to support combined therapy treatment implementation. Requirements: Current RN licensure in the State of Delaware. One year med/surg nursing experience, preferably oncology nursing experience. Must be Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified or obtain certification within six months of employment. Must be IV certified.Advanced nursing degree or certification as an Oncology Nurse (OCN) by the Oncology Nursing Society preferred. If not currently OCN certified, must become certified within two years. Chemotherapy certification preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
