We also place a strong emphasis on educating patients about heart-healthy lifestyles, including proper nutrition and exercise. We are currently seeking a Sr. Cardiac Sonographer to join our team. In this role you would plan, coordinate and supervise the activities and staff in Echocardiography. Other duties include: Assure quality patient care and efficient and effective work processes and procedures in collaboration with assigned medical staff and in accordance with UMMC policies and procedures. Assist the Echo Lab Director in developing quality assurance measures to ensure sonographers are achieving optimal use of equipment and therefore, optimal test performance. Coordinate communication between laboratory personnel, medical and nursing staff to relate operational procedures, mediate differences and to resolve problems. Communicates regularly with medical and nursing staff to address any special needs of the lab required for patient care. Qualifications: Bachelors of Science degree from an accredited college or university in natural sciences, or equivalent, is preferred. CPR certification is required. A minimum of two years of technical experience in Cardiac Sonography. Proficient knowledge of various cardiology diagnostic testing procedures, medical terminology, related terminology and technical knowledge is required. Knowledge of supervising and monitoring daily work activities, evaluating, training and motivating performance of subordinate technical, professional and clerical support staff. Demonstrated organization and problem-solving skills are required to develop/implement efficient work processes, and to successfully resolve difficult, conflict-oriented situations. Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit. |
