Summary

Performs CT procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Operates equipment safely and maintains A.L.A.R.A. standards while performing all types of procedures. Establishes and maintains a good rapport and professional relationship with fellow employees, other departments, and medical staff. Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform CT procedures as per physician, NP, or PA order, starting IV's, and injecting contrast, if applicable.
  • Evaluate CT scans for technical quality, collate processed images in sequence of exposure and appropriately label. Film/transmit to PACS.
  • Utilizes CPSI to charge procedures and supplies; maintains accurate patient records. Schedule patients for procedures; assist with clerical functions.
  • Dispense oral contrast to patients for CT scans.
  • Perform necessary lab as ordered.
  • Load and operate power injections for contrast media administration.
  • Maintain accurate patient records.
  • Provide orientation and training to new CT technologists.
  • Provide care for the psychological and physical needs of patients for CT scans.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein.

Professional Requirements

Advanced Orthopedic and Spine Certification Requirements

(CR.1c) As part of the Advanced Orthopedic and Spine Certification, at a minimum, the Program direct-care staff, must have one (1) hour of education specific to the Program scope, initially, and at least annually thereafter.

(CR.1e) As part of the Advanced Orthopedic and Spine Certification, staff possess adaptability to processes as related to up-to-date best practices, collaboration between departments, compliance with protocols/processes, communication, cooperation and exceptional customer service.

Within 90 days of hire or, if currently employed, within 90 days of signing the job description, must adhere to:

  • Orientation of Advanced Orthopedic and Spine Certification
  • In compliance with the Program education requirements
  • Completed department specific competencies

Regulatory Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited radiologic technologists' program
  • Current ARRT or ARDMS
  • Current State License LRT
  • Current BLS certification or able to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Two years of experience required with one year working competency in surgery area.

Skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Basic computer knowledge.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires repetitive motions, standing, walking, bending, kneeling and stooping all day. The employee must frequently lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
