Location: Forsyth Medical Center

Department: Cardiovascular Lab

Shift: PRN; To coincide with students schedule

Your Mission:

A Sonographer Student at Novant Health is typically enrolled in an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program and is completing clinical training as part of their education.

Contribute to Novant Health's mission of improving the health of communities, one person at a time, by providing high-quality imaging services.

What Youll Do:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Training: Work under the direct supervision of licensed Sonographers and clinical instructors to gain hands-on experience.
  • Patient Care: Assist with preparing patients for ultrasound procedures, including explaining the process and ensuring comfort and safety.
  • Scanning Practice: Perform limited ultrasound exams as allowed by their training level, while being closely monitored.
  • Equipment Use: Learn how to operate and maintain ultrasound equipment properly and safely.
  • Documentation: Help with charting and electronic medical record (EMR) documentation under supervision.
  • Compliance: Follow all Novant Health policies, HIPAA regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Team Collaboration: Participate in daily department functions and support technologists and other healthcare staff .

What Were Looking For:

Education: High School Diploma Required. Currently enrolled in CAAHEP or ARRT-recognized Sonography Program or ARRT required.

Experience: Successful completion of two semesters in CAAHEP or ARRT-recognized Sonography Program required.

Additional Skills Required: Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation. Good communication skills. Working knowledge of various types of ultrasound equipment. Able to adapt to new and various situations and procedures according to age of patient served. Basic understanding of basic US exams. Basic computer skills
