Location: Forsyth Medical Center

Department: GWM Imaging Resource Pool

Shift: PRN; 24-7 1st , 2nd 3rd shift availability and holiday schedule per agreement.

Your Mission:

A Nuclear Medicine Technologist at Novant Health plays a key role in diagnostic imaging by using radioactive materials (radiopharmaceuticals) to help detect abnormalities in a patient's body.

What Youll Do:

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Patient Preparation & Education
    • Explain procedures to patients and answer questions.
    • Screen patients for allergies, pregnancy, or contraindications.
    • Ensure proper hydration and fasting guidelines are followed.
  2. Radiopharmaceutical Handling
    • Prepare and administer radioactive drugs.
    • Follow safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff.
  3. Imaging Procedures
    • Operate nuclear medicine equipment like gamma cameras and PET scanners.
    • Position patients accurately for imaging of organs such as the heart, bones, thyroid, liver, or brain.
    • Capture and process images for physician interpretation.
  4. Radiation Safety & Compliance
    • Monitor and document radiation doses.
    • Handle radioactive waste properly.
    • Comply with federal, state, and Novant Health safety regulations.
  5. Collaboration & Documentation
    • Work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare staff.
    • Maintain detailed records and input data into electronic health systems.
    • Monitor patient condition during and after procedures.
  6. Equipment & Quality Control
    • Perform routine quality control checks on imaging equipment.
    • Report and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.

What Were Looking For:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 2 Year / Associate Degree, preferred. Graduate of ARRT-approved or NMTCB-recognized Nuclear Medicine Program, required.
  • Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in nuclear medicine, preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • Certified and registered in Nuclear Medicine by ARRT or NMTCB RT(N) or CNMT, required.
    • IV Credentialed, required.
    • Applicable state license, required.
  • Additional Skills Required: Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing; good communication skills; capable of functioning alone in diagnostic rooms; working knowledge of various types of nuclear medicine equipment, able to adapt to new and various situations and procedures according to age of patient served; has ability to interpret information to identify each patients requirements for care relative to his / her age-specific needs.
