Shift: PRN; 24-7 1st , 2nd 3rd shift availability and holiday schedule per agreement.

Your Mission:
A Nuclear Medicine Technologist at Novant Health plays a key role in diagnostic imaging by using radioactive materials (radiopharmaceuticals) to help detect abnormalities in a patient's body.

What Youll Do:
Primary Responsibilities:
- Patient Preparation & Education
- Explain procedures to patients and answer questions.
- Screen patients for allergies, pregnancy, or contraindications.
- Ensure proper hydration and fasting guidelines are followed.
- Radiopharmaceutical Handling
- Prepare and administer radioactive drugs.
- Follow safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff.
- Imaging Procedures
- Operate nuclear medicine equipment like gamma cameras and PET scanners.
- Position patients accurately for imaging of organs such as the heart, bones, thyroid, liver, or brain.
- Capture and process images for physician interpretation.
- Radiation Safety & Compliance
- Monitor and document radiation doses.
- Handle radioactive waste properly.
- Comply with federal, state, and Novant Health safety regulations.
- Collaboration & Documentation
- Work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare staff.
- Maintain detailed records and input data into electronic health systems.
- Monitor patient condition during and after procedures.
- Equipment & Quality Control
- Perform routine quality control checks on imaging equipment.
- Report and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.

What Were Looking For:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 2 Year / Associate Degree, preferred. Graduate of ARRT-approved or NMTCB-recognized Nuclear Medicine Program, required.
- Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in nuclear medicine, preferred.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Certified and registered in Nuclear Medicine by ARRT or NMTCB RT(N) or CNMT, required.
- IV Credentialed, required.
- Applicable state license, required.
- Additional Skills Required: Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing; good communication skills; capable of functioning alone in diagnostic rooms; working knowledge of various types of nuclear medicine equipment, able to adapt to new and various situations and procedures according to age of patient served; has ability to interpret information to identify each patients requirements for care relative to his / her age-specific needs.
