Job Description
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm PST

The Diagnostic Radiology Radiologist duties include the full range of diagnostic medical and/or surgical care for inpatient and outpatient VA patients including consultation, diagnosis, therapy, and treatment, and prognosis of patients referred to the Radiology Service. Duties also include the supervision and education of resident physicians and medical students from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) in Radiology related matters.
Duties include but not limited to:
a. Perform all diagnostic radiology procedures, including evaluation of indication, protocol, triaging, sedation, previewing for exam quality at completion of exam, administering contrast, and obtaining informed consent for contrast/procedures.
b. Formal interpretation of the results of all diagnostic radiology procedures within 24 hours, in accordance with Joint Commission requirements and the policies of the Radiology Service, such as "Handling of Radiography Reports Policy", "Communication of Critical Results Policy.", and any additional policies relating to interpretation and communication of radiographic findings.
c. Consult with other services regarding Diagnostic Radiology procedures including but not limited to preliminary reports as necessary for patient care.
d. Post-procedure evaluation and clinical consultation regarding complications of Diagnostic Radiology procedures.
e. Supervision of radiology fellows, residents and other medical students in accordance with Veterans Health Care Administration (VHA) Handbook 1400.1, entitled Resident Supervision, dated December 12, 2012.
f. Timely verification of all Diagnostic Radiology examinations according to current published VAMCSF performance standards.
g. Shall be physically present in sub-specialized radiology area cases requiring conscious sedation.
h. Maintain work area in a safe and orderly manner and perform other related activities and special assignments as required.
i. Additional administrative duties as assigned.
