Job DescriptionGeneral Purpose of Job :
Operate radiographic equipment to produce clinical diagnostic x-ray films as directed by Physicians and perform routine diagnostic procedures according to established standards and practices. Responsible for the efficient and effective processing of patients through the clerical and clinical areas of the practice/clinic. Under the general direction of the physician or advanced practice provider, provides high quality, compassionate patient care. Applicant/Current X-Ray Tech will have to float to all Urgent Care sites based on staffing levels and/or patient volumes.
Essential Duties :
This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
- Prepare patient and adjust equipment for taking x-rays. Position and instruct patient regarding procedures. Take x-ray images of specified body parts as ordered, following established procedures.
- Use immobilization devices in accordance with standard practice. Lead protective devices to protect parts of the body not in the central ray and to reduce exposure to radiation. Automatic radiation shielding (collimators) at all times.
- Observe sterile technique and universal precautions when applicable.
- Process films and use proper identification techniques so as to assure proper labeling. Log patient technical factors and pertinent information in RIS.
- Maintain established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control.
- Assist in daily care and maintenance of Urgent Care facilities, equipment, and supplies, including but not limited to stocking, ordering linen, putting away supplies, checking supply expiration dates, etc. Keep work areas clean.
- Attend in-service meetings and other meetings as required
- Prepares patient for examination. Obtains vital signs and chief complaint. Appropriately documents information obtained.
- Performs laboratory and diagnostic testing.
- Answers, screens and triages telephone calls. Takes accurate messages and distributes to the appropriate personnel within the guidelines of the practice.
- Maintains practice standards by participating in in-services, committees, etc. May assist in developing and implementing quality control and practice policies.
- Inventories, orders and restocks areas as necessary.
