Overview
Performs ultrasound examinations of the heart and vessels to assist the physician in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders affecting the cardiovascular system.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions
Knowledgable of and selects appropriate ultrasound equipment for echocardiogram procedures. Monitors sound waves for quality of ultrasonic patterns and documents on appropriate media to obtain a permanent record of examiniation. Consults with physicians as required regarding collection of test data and critical test results. Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. Inspects equipment daily to ensure it is operating effectively. Reports malfunctions. Collaborates effectively with other members of healthcare team concerning pertinent patient information and interventions needed. Completes other duties or task as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience RequiredEducation/Licensure: Completion of ultrasound program; RVS or RVT eligible preferred . Experience: No previous experience required, but preferred. Additional Skills/Abilities: BLS required before the conclusion of the orientation period. Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.
