Responsible for following established procedures and protocols in a fast-paced hospital imaging department. The technologist performs diagnostic radiographic procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of illness and injury across the hospital, including inpatient, outpatient, operating room, and emergency department settings. The scope of the position includes using proper patient identification, verifying the correct exam, explaining procedures to patients, accurately operating imaging equipment, demonstrating clinical and age-specific competencies, and selecting appropriate technical factors for optimal image quality. The technologist is responsible for practicing radiation safety in the operation of radiation-emitting equipment and reviewing images for interpretation. This position requires the ability to work independently, prioritize multiple requests, and respond effectively to emergent and routine imaging needs throughout the hospital, including the emergency department, as needed. The employee may also assist in other areas/modalities of the department as requested and must remain current on competencies for on-call, after-hours, weekend, and holiday coverage as applicable.
