Radiologic Technologist Job Description
Reports to: Director of the Breathing Center
Full time
Salary Range: $40k- $55k
The Radiologic Technologist serves as a member of the clinical team that cares for patients. The XRT performs high-quality X-rays using established patient care and safety protocols. One of the duties is taking quality B read images of those with occupational lung disease.
S/he is an educator of patients and their families, who develops a strong trusting relationship with patients. S/he is a member of the Dawes primary care team. In addition to her primary X-ray duties, s/he will also provide pulmonary and benefits services to patients when clinically indicated. S/he advises patients on their pulmonary condition and specifically on the Federal and State OP benefits that may be available to them. S/he is responsible for scheduling and tracking related to Department of Labor Testing and WV State OP Claims.
Job Duties:
- Performs high-quality X-rays using established patient care and safety protocols.
- Maintains a logbook including date, patient names, and x-rays performed
- Reviews policy and procedure manual and updates as necessary at least annually
- Serves as a resource for providers and staff about valid X-rays interpretation
- Performs quality management activities for the X-ray machine
- Tracks patients using REDcap, CAPGate, and other applications
- Schedules patients for Black Lung services and X-ray exams when necessary
- Assists with exercise for exercise ABGs during DOL Testing
- Performs blood pressure checks, SpO2 monitoring, heart rate monitoring, telemetry monitoring EKGs and glucose monitoring of patients according to Breathing Center policies and procedures
- Promotes the Cabin Creek Black Lung Program on the community, state and national levels
- Assists the Black Lung benefits counselor to advise patients of their eligibility for OP benefits
- Assists the Black Lung benefits counselor in communications with lawyers, PCPs, pulmonologists, national and state agencies and patients
- Documents clearly in both the EMR and paper chart
- Actively participates in community, state and national organizations to promote awareness of Black Lung Benefits
- Leads outreach events and initiatives to increase the number of Black Lung patients identified.
- Assists the Pulmonary Rehabilitation sessions in monitoring patients, and warm-ups and resistance training
- Aids in other duties and programs as assigned by the Director of the Breathing Center and Dawes site coordinator.
Meetings/licensure:
- Attends community, state and national Black Lung events when scheduled to do so.
- Participates in BL QI Projects
- Attends site Huddles when practical
- Maintains ARRT certification
- Maintains WV Radiologic Technologist license
Education Requirements:
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- Completed a board approved, accredited Radiologic Technology Program
- Must have a current WV Radiologic Technology License and be in good standing
