The Computed Tomography Technologist I performs diagnostic Computed Tomography and X-ray exams (based on department needs) under the direction of a radiologist The Computed Tomography Technologist I provides compassionate direct patient care with an emphasis on maintaining organizational values and standards of behavior. The Computed Tomography Technologist I operates diagnostic CT and X-Ray (as appropriate) equipment to produce diagnostic images of designated portions of the body to meet the national standards for dose reduction and assists radiologists and/or physicians in the administration of contrast media and other medications as required. The Computed Tomography Technologist I is required to participate in an on-call rotation outside of business hours based on department needs and must be able to work some weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

- Correlates the CT exam with other tests & preparations to best pronounce the disease process.

- Produces high quality imaging procedures with precision, accuracy, and in a timely manner for the Radiologist to interpret.

- Assists Radiologists, other physicians & peers with procedures. Is attentive to detail and accuracy, is committed to excellence.

- Is responsible for their own actions and actively works to improve in areas that are lacking.

- Proactively identifies problems and communicates these concerns with CT Leaders, seeks out new responsibilities, acts on opportunities, generates new ideas, practices self-development and continuous learning.

- Practices & monitors radiation protection for patients, employees & oneself during all procedures.

- Disposes of bodily fluids, hazardous materials, and chemicals in an appropriate manner according to OSHA standards and guidelines.

- Adheres to hospital & departmental safety regulations, guidelines, policies, procedures & protocols.

Qualifications

Education:

- Graduation of Radiology program accredited through the American Registry of Radiologic Technology approved by IDPH required .

- ARRT Advanced Level Certification in CT required .

- B a c h e lor's degree preferred.

Experience:

- Three (3) years of prior CT experience preferred.

License(s)/Certification(s):

- Current, unexpired Iowa Department of Public Health Permit to Practice as a Radiologic Technologist required .

- Current Certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Te chnologists (ARRT) as a Radiologic Technologist required .

- Current certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) as a Computed Tomography Technologist required .

- Current CPR certification or obtained within 30 days of hire.

- Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons required .
