Position Summary: The Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations under the direction of the Radiologist, Technical Director, and Lead/Chief Technologist. This position is responsible for producing high-quality diagnostic images, ensuring patient safety and comfort, and maintaining compliance with accreditation, regulatory, and departmental standards.

Education & Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Clinical experience in a hospital or outpatient imaging setting preferred.

Certifications & Licensure

  • Current ARDMS registration required.
  • Must be registered with ARDMS in at least one of the following specialties to meet ACR accreditation requirements:
    • Abdomen (AB)
    • OB/GYN
    • Pediatric Sonography (PS)
    • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)
  • Credentials must be maintained in good standing throughout employment.
  • Current BLS certification.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and specialized diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with physician orders and ACR protocols.
  • Produce high-quality diagnostic images and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of ultrasound physics, instrumentation, anatomy, pathology, terminology, and scanning techniques.
  • Communicate effectively with radiologists regarding exam findings and patient concerns.
  • Complete accurate patient documentation and required paperwork.
  • Provide clear instructions and compassionate care to ensure patient safety and comfort.
  • Follow ACR guidelines and departmental protocols for all ultrasound examinations.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance activities as assigned.
  • Complete or direct completion of occurrence reports within 24 hours of any identified event, incident, or risk.
  • Support efficient workflow and respond positively to changes in assignments and priorities.
  • Participate in cross-training initiatives to enhance departmental flexibility and professional growth.
  • Assist with the clinical education and supervision of ultrasound students, as applicable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support department operations.
