Works under the direction of a Radiion Oncologist and performs responsibilities associed with the localizion of tumors and the administrion of radiion therapy. Possess knowledge in principles, practices and procedures involved with the operion of ionizing radiographic and radiion therapy equipment. The knowledge of human anomy and proper positioning of the pient to provide radiion therapy trement. Able to perform CT Simulions in accordance with the instructions of the radiion oncologist. Is responsible for pient safety protocols and adhere to departmental policies and procedures. Participes in the department's performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities. Maintains pient work flow and problem solve trement issues. Have excellent technical and communicion skills and shows ability to develop relionships with the staff, pients and families. Upholds NYS Licensure, registrion in Radiologic Technology, ARRT and BLS certificion.

Core Job Responsibilities

Delivery of Radiion Therapy Administer prescribed dose of radiion therapy under the direction of a radiion oncologist, in accordance with regulory standards and hospital policies, practices and procedures, including but not limited to:
Positions pients for radiion therapy trements with accuracy; utilizing image guidance.
Simules pients under the guidance of radiion oncologist and make custom immobilizion devices.
Performs daily quality assurance checks on linear accelerors and CT/simulion
Ensure th all applicable trement informion and quality assurance checks; regarding the proposed trement plan is correct before the start of radiion.
Trains and supervises students during their clinical rotion, and or shadow program; Orient new radiion therapist and act as their mentor.
Acts as a consistent team member with pient care as the priority. Effectively rotes as needed with seamless efficiency. Able to tre efficiently with all radiion therapists
Able to effectively communice with Radiion Oncologist, Dosimetrist, Physicist and support team.
Adheres to punch in/punch out policy. PEAR reports for missed punches are signed by supervisor before the end of the pay period
Correctly identify pient in ARIA and accurely deliver the trement to correct pient. Identify each pient and trement area prior to trement according to policy.
Maintain pient confidence and protect operions by keeping informion confidential

Educion/Experience Requirements

Required:

  • Gradue from an accredited School of Radiion Therapy Technology

Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Science in Radiion; AAS degree in Radiion Therapy also accepted.
Licensure/Certificion Requirements

Required:

  • Current NYS Licensure registrion in Radiologic Technology Radiion Therapy .
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
  • Current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscition Certificion
