This position is responsible for performing Nuclear Medicine imaging and quality control including patient exams, dose calculations, and administrations. Monitors quality control of all instruments to ensure proper radiation protection for oneself, co-workers, and patients. Maintains proper departmental supply levels, pharmaceuticals, and nuclides. Assures contractual services are received and documented. Is able to utilize equipment and perform quality control on the equipment to ensure proper function ability.
This is a per diem position working various days of the week on various shifts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Participates with Radiologist and/or physician by contributing technical and professional knowledge.
- Clinical and Technical:
- Know and understand Hospital, Departmental, and examination protocols.
- Working knowledge of equipment, how to "trouble shoot" equipment, and when repairs are necessary how to contact the appropriate vendor.
- Know how to do QA on films and on equipment.
- Know how to schedule examinations. Review daily scheduled exams for corrections/additions/cancellations.
- Make sure exams are completed to include Teleradiology of films.
- Infection control principles.
- Problem solving skills.
- Reviews pathology, surgical and delivery reports, as appropriate, to follow patients progress and provide a means of reviewing the accuracy of the diagnostic exam.
- Performs Nuclear Medicine imaging procedures, all quality control procedures, and all radiation procedures.
- Receives all radiopharmaceuticals and completes dose preparation such as mixing of kits, measure of doses, and radiopharmaceutical administration via the correct route.
- Operates all Nuclear Medicine equipment.
- Understands all Nuclear Medicine examinations including invitro and invivo testing.
- Is well skilled and trained in venipuncture for I.V. injections.
- Takes all necessary precautions in handling radiation and emergency spill procedures.
- Responds to patient needs and maintains patient confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain and monitors imaging department film badges and reports and communicates as necessary any inconsistencies in dose monitoring reports to the Medical Director
- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
- Ensures no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies. This includes, but is not limited to: security and safety, understanding of MSDS, equipment, infection control, fire, disaster, safe lifting and body mechanics.
- Ensures self-compliance with organization policies and procedures, as well as labor agreements.
- Ensures the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a courteous and efficient manner conducive with the organization’s values.
- Conducts self in a professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function while representing the organization.
- Ensures that additional accountabilities, as may be required by management, be handled in a manner necessary to meet organizational standards.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The professional in the position reports to the Imaging Director. This position works closely with the Imaging team and other departments in order to provide complete patient care.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Education:
- Graduated from fully accredited Radiology Technology or Nuclear Medicine school.
- Six (6) months of hands-on clinical training from certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist or Radiologist.
- Certification:
- Washington State Radiologic Technologist Certification, RT (R).
- Nationally registered with ARRT or NMTCB or registry eligible.
- Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist credential from ARRT or NMTCB.
- CPR certification – Healthcare Provider (HCP) level required within three (3) months of hire.
- Skills/Competencies:
- Must know all basic functions of equipment in order to perform exams.
- All aspects of Nuclear Medicine imaging, testing, and dose administration that equipment allows. Adheres to all NRC Nuclear Medicine regulations.
- Demonstrates competency on equipment listed on department specific checklist.
- Critical thinking skills: Seeks resources for direction, when necessary. Performs independent problem solving. Decision-making is logical and deliberate.
- Performs actions that demonstrate accountability. Exercises safe judgment in decision-making. Practices within legal and ethical guidelines.
- Demonstrates competency in ability to care for customers/patients across the age continuum.
- Occasional standing, walking, lifting (50 lbs), reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling.
- Must be able to maneuver patients on table in order to obtain proper images.
- To exchange collimation devices using collimator equipment.
- Good reading eyesight.
- Ability to communicate using verbal and/or written skills for accurate exchange of information with physicians, nurses, health care professionals, patients and/or family, and the public.
