Job Description:
The ultrasound technologist operates ultrasound diagnostic equipment to produce two-dimensional ultrasonic pattern and positive pictures of internal organs for use by professional personnel in diagnosis of disease, study of malfunction of organs, and prenatal examination of fetus and placenta.
Responsibilities:
- Perform sonography exams ensuring that request conforms with doctor’s orders in patient’s chart
- Explain process to patient and instructs and assists patient in assuming physical position for required exposure to ultrasonic waves
- Select appropriate ultrasonic recording parameters for procedures
- Demonstrate proficiency in recognizing abnormal conditions and report same to supervisor
- Maintain appropriate records, statistics, and log
- Provide for adequate inventory and equipment operation
Requirements:
- High School diploma or Equivalency required
- Graduate from an accredited school for Ultrasound Technologists
- RDMS Certification (New Grads must acquire certification within 2 years of graduation date)
- 6 months experience preferred
