Radiation Therapist - Travel Job

This role follows department policies, procedures, guidelines and protocols and aligns with standards of professional radiation therapy practice.

Minimum Qualifications

Must possess a strong knowledge of clinical care as normally obtained through an Associate degree in radiation oncology or related field. Requires national certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART) and licensure by the state regulatory agency if applicable. BLS certification required. Must be knowledgeable of clinical techniques, applications and equipment relative to the area of work. Must demonstrate effective communication skills, human relations skills, and be safety conscious. Employees working at the Banner MD Anderson on the Banner University Medical Center Phoenix campus must possess a State of Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. This is a requirement of the Whole Family Counseling Program held at this specific facility.

Client-specific requirements. Must be able to perform and evaluate equipment quality control measurements and troubleshoot equipment. Must adhere to radiation safety practices and ALARA principles for receipt, administration, storage, and disposal of radioactive materials. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently and may be required to lift up to 75 pounds. Ability to communicate effectively in person and by telephone is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous radiation therapy experience preferred. Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

Impacting Patient Care

Perform prescribed radiation therapy treatments by following and verifying referring providers orders. Educate patients and families regarding procedures and treatments. Operate treatment and treatment planning equipment, including simulation. Prepare and maintain accurate documentation and verify treatment plans and dosages with the oncology team. Monitor patients for adverse reactions during and after therapy. Independently perform prescribed invasive/interventional procedures where applicable and direct student or support staff activities as assigned. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to regulatory and accreditation requirements.
