About the Role:
The Radiology Student Tech position is designed to provide hands-on clinical experience and foundational knowledge in radiologic technology within a healthcare setting. This role supports radiologic technologists by assisting in the preparation and positioning of patients for imaging procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the process. Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited radiologic technology program.
- Must be a senior.
- Basic understanding of human anatomy and medical terminology.
- Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision in a clinical environment.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
- Compliance with health and safety standards, including infection control procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience or clinical rotations in a healthcare or radiology setting.
- Familiarity with radiology information systems (RIS) and picture archiving and communication systems (PACS).
- CPR certification or other relevant healthcare certifications.
- Demonstrated ability to handle patient care with empathy and professionalism.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and data entry.
Responsibilities:
- Assist radiologic technologists in preparing patients for imaging procedures by explaining the process and positioning them correctly.
- Operate basic radiology equipment under supervision to capture preliminary images as part of the learning process.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of imaging rooms and equipment to comply with health and safety regulations.
- Document patient information and imaging details accurately in accordance with departmental protocols.
- Observe and adhere to radiation safety standards to protect patients, staff, and self from unnecessary exposure.
