Job Summary and QualificionsThe Nuclear Medicine Technologist produces images in accordance with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certificion Board (NMTCB) standards. Furthermore, the technologist will perform within the guidelines set by the Bureau of Radiion Control, Hospital Policies and Procedures Manual and the Radioactive Merials License. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is accountable to the Radiion Safety Officer for ensuring all regulions are in compliance in the Department. Provides services using radioisotopes to assist in the diagnosis or trement of disease. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist demonstres knowledge of the human structure and functions, pient care, positioning, principles of nuclear medicine, radiion protection and specialized techniques. Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary of medical ethics.
- Participes in providing pient specific care standards as directed, and follows service excellence standards to ensure high levels of pient sisfaction.
- Consistently produce scans of optimal diagnostic quality on pients ranging from Neonal to Geriric.
- Follow established protocols for imaging and isotopes dosage; adjusts when approprie for age or disease.
- Opere all Nuclear Medicine cameras, computers and reled equipment, efficiently and effectively.
- Complete quality scans in a timely manner, effectively organizing and prioritizing workflow.
- Demonstre proficiency in scanning trauma, acute & challenging pients; possess skill to modify positioning and scanning factors when standard cannot be performed.
- Possess knowledge of disease processes, adequely image these findings and communice them to the Radiologist.
- Perform radioactive therapy procedures according to Nuclear Medicine Policies and Procedures and the Radioactive Merial License.
- Employ techniques to minimize radiion exposure by adhering to the ALARA program.
- Adhere to radiion plan, consistently demonstres an awareness of radiion safety practices.
- Explain procedures to pients and family in terms they understand, tempts to clarify any misconceptions.
- Maintain awareness of pient safety, pient privacy, confidentiality and dignity all times.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Gradue of an educional program in radiology accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Educion in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or gradue of an American Medical Associion approved program in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology or a military training program of equivalent standards.
- Associes Degree or higher in Radiologic Technology preferred
- Two to three years as a previous experience as a Radiologic Tech preferred
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES :
- Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certificion Board (CNMT) OR Registered Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, post- primary certificion in Computed Tomography (ARRT (NM)).
- If hired prior to 4/13/12 and been performing x-rays since 1987 AND was grandfhered in by the ste of Texas, only CMRT required.
- Registered Certifice of Transportion - Transportion of Hazardous Radioactive Merial.
- BLS certificion as per SDH policy.
