Summary

Vascular Sonographer will perform noninvasive vascular ultrasound procedures utilizing sonographic characteristics of normal and abnormal blood flow and tissue in order to assist with patient diagnosis.

Certification, Registration & Licensure

Registration required to obtain: American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) registry in accordance with Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) guidelines within 2 years of hire and maintained thereafter.

State licensure for Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy is required.

Experience

2 or more years of hands-on experience, post school.

Proficient and independent in all OP exams.

Responsibilities

  • Performs Carotid Duplex (CD) exams.

  • Performs peripheral arterial physiologic and duplex exams.

  • Performs peripheral venous duplex exams.

  • Performs various abdominal and other less common duplex exams.

  • Manages time and workload fluctuations.

  • Assesses patients and adapts to changing clinical situations.

  • Role models personal and departmental commitment to meet patient needs in a timely manner.

  • Documents and maintains patient and test data.

  • Chooses correct order codes for tests performed and completes steps to submit charges.

  • Utilizes and maintains departmental and hospital equipment.

  • Completes departmental and hospital requirements.

  • Offers suggestions to eliminate waste and improve lab productivity.

  • Involves self in departmental, team and committee goals.

  • Takes ownership and responsibility for individual performance goals.

  • Adheres to team ground rules.

  • Meets Productivity Targets according to Assigned role targets.

  • Independently oversees one or more monthly metric tracking and improvement initiative within the team.

  • Presents metrics monthly.

  • Presents NRC reports and feedback to the team monthly.

  • Takes call.

  • Covers off site locations.

  • Assists with development and improvement of protocols and workflow efficiencies.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Assists as a liaison for new staff/travelers as well as provides education to all Concord Hospital campuses regarding Vascular testing.

  • Collaborates on PACS updates.

  • Assists with equipment updates.

  • Organizes vendor demonstration and educational courses for the team.
