Overview:

This position functions in a free-standing Interventional Care Center as an integral member of our team approach to patient care the Interventional Radiology Technologist, in collaboration with physicians and nurses, strives to provide high quality care to every patient. Daily assignments vary due to the range of procedures that may be completed from vascular intervention to pain management and embolization.
The IR Technologist provides direct patient care using medical imaging techniques to help the interventionalist in diagnosis and/or treatment. Provides assistance with radiographic procedures to demonstrate vascular and non-vascular structures for interpretation and/or therapeutic intervention. Delivers appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. Ensures the radiation safety for all patients as well as the other members involved in the procedure. Experience in sterile/scrubbing for diagnostic and interventional cases.
MINIMUM QUALIFICAITONS:
· Certificate/diploma from an approved/accredited program of Radiologic Technology Sciences. Requires national certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and licensure by the state regulatory agency. Advance certification by ARRT in advanced imaging specialty required when applicable. Must maintain CME standards as required by ARRT to maintain national licensure.
· BLS certification required. This position requires clinical knowledge typically achieved with a minimum of 2 years’ experience relevant to evolve medical scope of practice.
· Experience in acute care setting within the past 12 months is preferred. Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills with staff, vendors and patients.
· Must demonstrate workflow management and ability to maintain schedule integrity.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position requires prolonged periods of standing and walking. There will be times at which bending, reaching and occasional balancing and stooping is required. Ability to push and transport patients in wheel chairs and stretchers. Good visual and auditory acuity is essential, as well as good manual dexterity and the ability to be readily understood are essential. May be exposed to biohazards and chemicals as outlined in the MSDS Manual; and other unpleasant bodily fluids or patient conditions may be encountered. Must be able to work in an environment with multiple deadlines and priorities.
