Job Summary and Qualifications

The Interventional Radiology Tech for the Surgical Ventures Group provides high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of radiographic procedures and related techniques as well as specialty procedures including but not limited to diagnostic and therapeutic angiographic and other vascular procedures. Under the supervision of a licensed physician, the Interventional Radiology Tech provides appropriate patient care in accordance with established protocols to promote positive patient outcomes.

What you will do in this role:

  • Prepares patients for exams and procedures. Assesses patient condition prior to and during all radiologic procedures.
  • Completes a wide variety of IR imaging procedures
  • Sets up and operates a variety of radiography equipment, imaging and/or associated accessories.
  • Ensures adherence to all safe radiation protection measures for staff and patients, as defined by ASC guidelines.
  • Ensures that all relevant studies are available and images obtained during procedure are managed appropriately. All images saved should also be printed and stored in the patient record.
  • Prepares and administers radiopaque contrast media needed for radiologic exams.
  • Remains available during procedures to provide prompt responses to the needs of doctors or patients.
  • Detects adverse symptomology relating to radiation use or contrast related problems and communicates patient status to care team as needed.
  • Communicates patient status to care team as needed.
  • Documents procedures promptly and accurately, using approved policies and procedures.
  • Complies with adverse incident reporting system.
  • Follows Standard Precautions, using personal protective equipment as required.
  • Performs required maintenance on instruments, supplies and equipment, in accordance with the specified cleaning, storage and calibration procedures.
  • Maintains sufficient supplies for immediate availability during procedures.
  • Assists with preparing the OR or procedural suites based on physician card preferences.

What is required for this role:

  • Graduate from an accredited imaging program is required
  • 1+ years angiographic interventional experience is required
  • Operating room experience is preferred
