Scope/Position Summary

The Echo sonographer performs sonographic and noninvasive imaging procedures, patient education, and quality assessment activities for the Echo Lab; Serves as a mentor to other sonographers/students to enhance quality; Assists with on-going quality assurance/quality improvement initiatives; Follows imaging protocols and maintains standards for quality; Maintains current knowledge by participation in CME courses which are relevant to echo procedures/testing (minimum 30 hours required every three years).

Minimum Qualifications

For Hire: Required: Successful completion of an accredited Cardiac Sonography program. Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) registry required within 12 months of hire.

Preferred: Previous experience in Cardiac Sonography.

On going: Maintains registry & licensing status; meets mandatory education and health surveillance requirements. Demonstrates competence in technical, interpersonal, and cognitive skills required to meet essential job functions.

Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
