Job Description Summary
Under the general supervision of the Production Manager, the successful candidate will work with members of the production team to make technical and cost recommendations to customers, evaluate printing requests to determine the best way to complete the job efficiently, support the production manager in the management of production workflows, while operating digital, wide format , and offset printers to produce a wide variety of printed materials.

Job Description
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
20% - Pre-Production Support - Make-Ready (Essential)
Retrieves, logs, sorts, and distributes active job tickets generated for online and offline orders sent to production. Reviews job specifications and inspects print-ready files to determine the most efficient production process for output. Utilizes software applications in support of production operations, including Adobe Acrobat and the printer's native make-ready applications to prepare and send jobs to the appropriate output device or queue.
25% - Production Support - Printing (Essential)
Operates digital printers, wide format printers, offset presses, and foiler. Maintains rigorous quality control by conducting inspections of printed items at the appropriate job stages. Operates finishing and bindery equipment: cutters, folders, collators, laminators, punches, staplers, and other finishing/bindery equipment.
15% - Production Maintenance Support
Understands how to prepare, maintain, and troubleshoot machines. Supports the Production Manager in following best practices for routine maintenance and repairs, making service calls with vendors as needed, and maintaining a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
15% - Post-Production Support & Preparation
Assists post-production preparation of orders for shipment: packaging/packing; labelling; preparation for pickup, shipping via FedEx Ground, or delivery on campus. Makes occasional deliveries of orders using a shared van to locations not supported by Mail Services or for very large orders to specified local delivery points.
20% - Leadership Support (Essential)
Provides support with the Production Manager's (PM) responsibilities over production, supplies, and inventory as delegated or when the PM is out of the shop. Works closely with the Production Manager to monitor the workflow of all print jobs in production, maintain production schedules, ensure proper alignment of material and human capital resources, and ensure adherence to customer specifications.
5% - Other duties and cross-training as assigned
Duties may include but are not limited to: consults with customers directly on active jobs in production as needed concerning job specifications or other printing issues; assists with other support services areas; receives additional training.

Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and four years experience in the operation of printing and duplicating machines.
