Echocardiography Technician Jobs

Create and analyze diagnostic images of patients’ hearts and the surrounding system. Echocardiography technicians—also called echocardiographers or cardiac sonographers—use ultrasound equipment to produce pictures of the heart’s chambers, valves, and vessels, and examine the results for abnormalities. They position patients carefully in order to produce the clearest pictures possible.

Some echocardiography technicians may perform echocardiograms on fetal hearts for physicians’ use when identifying cardiac problems before birth. As they need to interact with patients who may be in pain about possibly personal or sensitive information, these professionals must also be empathetic, compassionate, and emotionally stable.
