MRI Technologist Jobs in Wisconsin
A MRI Technologist, also known as a Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist, plays a pivotal role in the radiology field. They operate MRI scanners to create diagnostic images to aid in patient diagnosis and treatment. They are responsible for preparing patients for the procedure, explaining the process, ensuring patient safety, positioning patients correctly, selecting appropriate imaging parameters, administering contrast agents, and capturing the highest possible quality images. MRI Technologists work closely with Radiologists, who interpret the images, and other healthcare professionals.
Essential skills for a MRI Technologist include great attention to detail, strong technical and analytical skills, good interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work in a team. They should also have strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology, as well as MRI safety protocols. Certifications needed vary by location but typically include a degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field, as well as certification from an accredited MRI Technologist program. In the U.S., certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is often required. Prior to becoming a MRI Technologist, individuals may work as Radiologic Technologists, X-Ray Technicians, or Medical Imaging Assistants.
