They are responsible for operating PET scan equipment, which involves injecting patients with radioactive drugs and then using a scanner to produce images of the body's internal functions. These images are used by doctors to diagnose and monitor various diseases and conditions. PET Technicians work closely with radiologists, oncologists, and a variety of other medical professionals to ensure that patients are receiving the most accurate and effective treatment. They are also responsible for maintaining the equipment, following safety procedures, and providing a calm and comforting environment for patients.
