A Radiation Oncologist is a specialist in the radiology field who uses radiation therapy to treat diseases, primarily cancer. Their role includes designing treatment plans, monitoring the patient's response, and adjusting treatments as necessary. They also work closely with other medical professionals such as surgeons, medical oncologists, radiologists, and medical physicists to develop comprehensive treatment plans. Prior to becoming a Radiation Oncologist, a person may have roles as a Medical Student, Medical Intern, or a Resident in Radiation Oncology or related disciplines, which provides the hands-on training and experience necessary to be competent in this highly specialized field.
