Radiology Technician Jobs in Texas
A Radiology Technician, also referred to as a Radiologic Technologist, plays an integral role in the radiology field. They are responsible for operating complex medical imaging equipment, such as X-ray, computed tomography, or magnetic resonance imaging machines to help diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries. Their duties include explaining procedures to patients, positioning them to get the most accurate images, and ensuring patient safety during the process. The images produced by Radiology Technicians are then interpreted by Radiologists to provide diagnosis or treatment plans.
Important skills for a Radiology Technician include attention to detail, the ability to work with complex machinery, good communication skills, and empathy for patients. They should also have a good understanding of anatomy, physiology, and radiology principles. Radiology Technicians should have an associate's degree in Radiologic Technology and must be certified by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Prior to becoming a Radiology Technician, an individual may have been a Medical Assistant, a Certified Nursing Assistant, or a Medical Imaging Assistant. These roles provide relevant experience in patient care and medical environments that can be beneficial in a radiology setting.
