Sonographer Jobs in Eugene, OR

A Sonographer, also known as an Ultrasound Technician, is an integral part of the radiology field. They are responsible for operating ultrasound equipment to create diagnostic images or conduct tests for patients. These images are then used by physicians to diagnose and monitor a variety of conditions such as pregnancies, tumors, or heart diseases. Sonographers also prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process, ensure the equipment is working properly, and select appropriate equipment settings based on the patient's needs and physician's orders.

To be effective in this role, a Sonographer must possess strong technical and analytical skills to accurately interpret the images. They also need good interpersonal skills as they interact with patients on a regular basis. They should have a certification from an accredited Sonography program and may be required to have certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or a similar body. Prior to becoming a Sonographer, an individual may have roles such as a Radiologic Technologist, Medical Assistant, or a Licensed Practical Nurse to gain relevant healthcare experience.
