Special Procedures Technician Jobs in Connecticut

A Special Procedures Technician in the radiology field plays a crucial role in diagnosing and treating patients by assisting physicians in performing specialized procedures using advanced diagnostic imaging technology. Their responsibilities encompass preparing patients for procedures, operating imaging equipment such as X-ray, CT, and MRI machines, monitoring patients during the procedure, and ensuring the images are of high quality for accurate interpretation by the radiologist. They must follow safety guidelines to protect patients and staff from radiation exposure and maintain accurate patient records.

Important skills for a Special Procedures Technician include strong technical and analytical skills, attention to detail, effective communication skills, and ability to work well under pressure. They should be able to work well in a team and have a good understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. They should have a certification from an accredited radiologic technology program and hold a state license if required. Prior to becoming a Special Procedures Technician, a person may have roles like Radiologic Technologist, MRI Technologist, or CT Technologist, which provide the necessary experience and foundational knowledge.
